DARREN HAYES' FACTS

You're going to have to forgive the rambling here, but there's so much to say about Dazza. *lol*

He was born Darren Stanley Hayes on May 8th, 1972 in Brisbane. His parents names are June and Robert Hayes and he has one older brother and an older sister, Tracey and Paul. He has blue-gray eyes and in his words, "an interesting shade of mousy brown" hair that he dyes jet black. He says that he knew his whole life he wanted to go into singing, and that his early musical influences were Prince, Fleetwood mac and Diana Ross. The first album he ever bought was Micheal Jackson's Thriller which he ironically bought at the same store as Daniel before they even knew each other (Libby's note: come to think of it, I think that was the first album I ever bought. Since I'm from the States, I'm absolutely positive we didn't get it at the same store. *lol*). Currently he loves U2, Sarah McLachlan, Madonna, and more I'm sure. He attended Mabel Park Infants and Mabel Park High schools in Logan City, and discribes himself as a nerd in school. This all changed for him when his talent was realized. He was planning on going on with his education, but after about a year at the university he met Daniel and his focus changed. He is married to his high school sweetheart, Colby Taylor (Although, they are currently Seperated.). His favorite book is Anne Rice's Vampire Novels, which inspired the name of the group. His favorite movie is Star Wars, his favorite being The Empire Strikes Back because of how dark it is. (Libby's note: Star Wars was actually a movie I was obsessed with as a child as well, only my favorite was Return of the Jedi. I guess that's one difference between me and Dazza. The other difference is I still have the majority of the Star Wars figures and other merchandise I collected as a kid. I better hide them from Dazza, huh? *winks*) He said that he used to have a collection of Star Wars toy, but at age 13 he decided he was too old for them and sold them. Now he is trying to recollect everthing. Darren is a vegetarian and does not drink alcohol. He had never been to America before Savage Garden, and has been totally obsessed with it. His favorite city is New York for that reason. Darren is currently residing in NYC. Darren's favorite songs off of the Savage Garden album is Carry on Dancing and Santa Monica, although he loves performing Break Me Shake Me the most because of the crowd reaction. As for the songs that aren't on their debut album, Dazzie says he enjoys I'll Bet He Was Cool and Love Can Move You the most. I have currently heard that he is really fond of The Animal Song as well. He said in an interview that he thought it was one of their best cuts, but he admits that he's a bit bias! *lol*
